Today we are going to be reviewing the Barnett Jackal it comes with everything that you need to get started.

The first thing that you will notice that everything will come in sub assemblies.  All of your tools will come in a white box.  This came with their premium red dot. We have a manual for the red dot itself. We have a tube of crossbow lube wax.  This should only be applied to the rails every 5 shots. We also have the join the NRA sheet.  Everyone should join the NRA.

And the owners manual.  This will be your guide to put the assembly together.

On the very last page there will be your warranty card.  You want to fill this out and send it in so you will be covered under warranty.

Lets get the specs out of the way.

This crossbow has a draw weight of 150 pounds.  It features a 12 inch power stroke. The power stroke is the distance between the bow string at rest and the locking mechanism.  It shoots a 20 inch arrow at 315 fps.  delivering 88 foot pounds of energy.  The weight is 7.7 pounds it is 36 inches in length and 20 inches in width.

Now lets talk of the features of this crossbow.  It comes with a pistol grip, a military style stock. It ships with a 3 bolt quiver.  The types of bolts are the Easton headhunter series.  The red dot is the premium Barnett Red Dot.  It has 5 illumination settings.

The trigger breaks at about 3.5 pounds.  When you cock the device, it automatically puts it on safe.

Let’s talk about the wax that ships with the crossbow.  It is the Barnett Brand crossbow lube wax.  It should go on the rail every 5 shots.

It says you can cock it by hand, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that because if you get more tension on one side, it will cause the bolt to fly erratically. I used a cocking device.

One thing I want to talk about too, if you’re going to get bolts, make sure they are actually made for the Jackal.  Don’t go to Wal-mart and get the cheap bolts.  Here in a few minutes we are going to take it outside to show you how it works.

What powers the red dot is a cr-2032 battery which you can get at Wal-Mart or Rite-Aid.

The first thing before firing is that you want to apply the lube to the rail.

How to cock a crossbow.

You’re gonna want to make sure that your hooks are facing up.  I marked my strings so that there is even pressure when it is in the cock position.  There is a handguard, make sure the rope is above that.

Put your foot in the stirrup then just stand up.  It’s quite easy to do, and after the first or second time it will seem like nothing.

One other thing I want to tell you is that you can’t have it cocked for more than 4 hours and you cannot dry fire it.  So at the end of the day make sure you shoot a tree or some hay.

Thanks for watching the Barnett Jackal crossbow review, I think its the best crossbow for beginners when it comes to hunting or just for shooting.
